At The Avenue we offer rich and meaningful learning experiences for all children and their families. Our education programs are play-based and focus on the children’s strengths and interests.
Our education programs are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework for Australia and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and seek to enrich children’s learning and support their transition to school.

Our programs target five key learning outcomes that are designed to foster the learning and development of all children.
Through the Xplor app, every child has their own individual portfolio that documents learning stories, observations, conversations, photos and your child’s special moments and interests.

Robins (Babies Program)
Two early childhood educators care for and educate eight babies in this program that is suited for children 0 to 2 years.
The first 1,000 days of life – the time spanning roughly between conception and a young child’s second birthday – is a window of unique opportunity when the developing child’s optimal health, growth and learning pathways are established.
The Avenue teachers and educators have the knowledge and support to develop specific learning programs that engage your child through this important period of their life.
Our babies program is a play based program that is built around the children’s interests and developmental needs. The program is enriched with learning opportunities to allow the children to explore and discover, whilst promoting the development of self-confidence, independence and positive self-esteem.

Rosellas (Toddler Program)
Three early childhood educators care for and educate 12 children in the toddler program.
Our toddler room is equipped for exploration and learning for children aged 2 to 3 years. The environment is designed to create an environment that is home-like, nurturing and stimulating, whilst still providing appropriate levels of challenges and risks that toddlers crave for.
As toddlers develop, their communication skills develop, and they learn to focus, discover, explore, and play. Through a curriculum of play-based learning activities that promotes a hands-on learning style, children are exposed to new challenges, which helps them gain sensory sensitivity, creativity and independence.

Kookaburras (3 and 4 Year Kindergarten Programs)
We offer a fully funded Kindergarten program in a long day care setting. From 2023, we will offer the Victorian Government’s Free Kinder initiative for 3 and 4-year-olds.
In our kindergarten room, three highly experienced educators and support staff educate and care for 20 children aged between three and five years.
Our 3 and 4 Year Kindergarten programs are planned and delivered by two Bachelor qualified kindergarten teachers, with support from experienced early childhood educators.
Our programs and planning is purely based on children’s interests, strengths and needs. We are constantly observing the children to see what they are playing with, how they are playing with it, what they are learning and how they are interacting with others. From this we think, discuss and plan your children’s activities and experiences. We ensure that all children are being observed and their interests followed so that every child contributes to the program.
We have three set group times each day. All children are encouraged to get involved. At group times we play games, sing songs, read stories, undertake science experiments, explore and discuss topics of interest, dance and take part in exercise classes and in incursions or excursions.
Our 4 year kindergarten transition program helps prepare children for a smooth transition to school and promotes school readiness. Transition activities are based on the strengths and interests of individual children while incorporating motor, literacy and numeracy development. There are opportunities to read, write, count and reflect while engaging in active exploration, research and discovery.
Free Kinder Subsidy
We have opted in for the Free Kinder Subsidy for 3- and 4-year-old Kindergarten. Free Kinder payments in an integrated long day care program (where children also attract Commonwealth Childcare Subsidy (CCS) Payments) will attract a $2000 subsidy per child enrolled. Subsidy is credited to the family’s accounts on a weekly basis. Services that offer a Three-Year-Old Kindergarten program of less than 15 hours, will receive a pro-rata amount.
